A campaign has begun in Hastings, being led by students form the university but involving a broad coalition of community partners, business leaders and local governmental bodies to oppose the decision, made by Brighton University, to downgrade their higher education offering in Hastings.
The campaign is being pushed in a number of fashions, through bargaining with the Uni Management, involvement of staffing unions proposing industrial action, pressure being applied by local businesses and direct action being planned by students. As well as this there are a number of smaller local groups who are organising oppositions in their own ways.
So far meetings have been attended by over 200 people all with a common passion to retain high quality higher education in Hastings, preferably provided by the University of Brighton.
We have a blog here where we've collated news stories, videos and information on the campaign: https://handsoffhastings.wordpress.com/ And a petition here: https://www.change.org/p/save-hastings-campus Or please head over and like our Facebook page here at: www.facebook.com/HandsOffHastings
