Matthew Edwards is an Industrial designer from Johannesburg, South Africa. He has a strong foundation in football, footwear, design for social impact and design for sustainability. This broad interest in design culminates in an intersection of the design of functional products that champion social change and create a narrative of sustainable design in a South African context, within his network. He works on conceptual projects and uses Instagram to document and archive the process and findings based on design for repair, finding new and alternative materials and circular design. He believes that design is very important in solving the multi-faceted problems faced in Sub-Saharan Africa and he would like to be a part of this conversation.
