RedKite offers the Who’s in Charge? programme for parents who are living with challenging behaviour, violence and abuse from their children.

THE AGENCY

Director: Lyn Oualah

Website: www.rkcs.co.uk

Email: redkitecoachingsolutions@gmail.com

Phone: 07388 058 858

CRITERIA

Catchment: The service is based in Berkshire, but offers an online service to anyone interested.

Age: Recommended age is 8-17, but other ages can be considered depending on the circumstances.

The programme requires that parents are able to access written documentation. If this is a problem it is possible to make accommodations. It is helpful if the referring agency assists with paperwork and remains engaged throughout the programme.

REFERRAL / ASSESSMENT

Anyone can refer – just get in touch. Additional information is welcomed but not essential. There is no waiting list. An assessment of suitability and risk will be undertaken following referral.

THE SERVICE

Who’s in Charge? is a programme that works solely with parents / carers, but Lyn can also work with children if required. Support is both one-to-one and group based, and takes place online via Zoom / Teams.

This Programme is 8 sessions, ideally at 2+ hours /session, with a further follow-up session approximately 3 months later. Extra support is available for additional intervention work as needed. Lyn adopts a Solution Focused approach to all her work.

Lyn trained originally as a teacher, and is an accredited ADHD coach and ASD advisor with vast experience supporting parents and professionals; and has also spent 17 years working on the Youth Justice Service with many other professionals and families.

EVALUATION

The Who’s in Charge? programme is accepted by the Youth Justice Board as an effective service. It was also evaluated prior to being commissioned by the pan-Berkshire charity, Parenting Special Children.
