CRITERIA Catchment: Families living within the Thames Valley area Age: 8 – 18 The abuse has been ongoing for a minimum of 6 months. Attendance is voluntary, both parent and child must give consent.
REFERRAL Any professional involved with a family where CPV has been identified can refer, or family can make a self-referral. All referrals are completed online. Where referrals are from other agencies, relevant information will be requested as part of the process.
ASSESSMENT Telephone assessment / in person if possible, including thorough risk assessments.
THE SERVICE Up to 10 sessions of intensive support, followed by 6 months post intervention support. The service works with both parents and children, in groups and / or one-to-one. The toolkit, developed specifically for BRF, includes restorative and trauma-informed approaches, alongside a Protective Behaviours approach. Work takes place in homes, schools and community venues as appropriate. The programme is closely linked with the Victim Service in another sector of the umbrella charity-SAFE! There is a constantly changing waiting list. This is discussed once a referral is accepted.
TRAINING The team offer an accredited Introduction to CPV course (3 hours) and a shorter training Powerpoint to use in team meetings etc.
EVALUATION BRF is currently being evaluated by an external and independent consultant researcher.
