Water scarcity increases issues for the environment and the many water users on the recreation ground. The allotments, 'Wild About Barcombe' pond and recreation ground might all be served via the old wells recently rediscovered in The Pump House Field. These wells once served the village with drinking water.
The Parish Council and Energy Group with help from the University of Brighton are exploring a long term solution for water use from the wells. They have been tested and the water quality is of a very high standard and with the relevent consents from the environment agancy and grant funding we could soon be much more water resilent.
Water takes large amounts of energy in it's cleaning and supply cycles.
Water should always be conserved and used efficiently despite more sustainable supplies - it is afterall an evernore scarce resource
