Supporting people with a learning disability to live their lives as they choose.

Newhaven, Lewes & District Mencap has been supporting local people with learning disabilities and their families since 1975. We currently have over 100 members including people with learning disabilities, their families and volunteers helping to improve the lives of people with learning disabilities. The name MENCAP is well established, but it is a little known fact that locally we have to be funded entirely from fund raising activities of supporters, and kind donations from generous residents of the Newhaven, Peacehaven Seaford and Lewes area. Much effort is also put in by our volunteers who give their time to help the members, and to help organise events to raise funds for them.

Here are some of the activities we are involved in. We Provide Social Activities for people of any age with a Learning Disability.

We run our "Open Door" Community Help Scheme on Monday mornings.

We Provide Information to Help People who have a Learning Difficulty, and their Families and Carers. - We Raise Funds for Projects that Help our Community.

We organise every Friday Night as Club Night for our members

Our Hall can be Hired by Local Groups, Businesses and Organisations which helps to raise funds.
