Summary: Required recycling of food waste by businesses and households. All commercial establishments that generate food waste must also subscribe to a composting service or process their food waste on site. Property owners must provide food recycling bins for residents.
Policy: Commercial and residential recycling of food waste required
Support mechanisms for implementation: Mandatory – a violation of the policy results in extra $50 collection fee - Household properties receive tags on containers that contain food waste when not supposed to, after 2 tags they receive a $50 on their waste bill for food waste in the general waste.
Evaluate the impact: Recycling generation rate down to 2.23 pounds per person per day in 2017, from 2.74 pounds in 2007
