What it is: Moulsecoomb Railway Station runs between Moulsecoomb and Hollingdean, both suburbs of Brighton. Train services from the station are provided by Southern, and the station is located on the East Coastway Line. The station opened in May 1980, located adjacent to the Moulsecoomb University of Brighton campus.
What they do: 8 trains pass through the station hourly all of which full, some say overfull, of passengers who otherwise could be driving thus theoretically cutting carbon emissions. The train services provide essential travel for non-drivers who wish to commute to Brighton centre for work from the surrounding suburbs.
Suggestions to Citizens: Although the train service is suggested sustainable travel some issues identified by University of Brighton staff such as; expensive fares, infrequent and unreliable services and crowded services. The ticket office is only open between 6:50 - 13:30 perhaps suggesting understaffing/funding issues.
