Location – Located in the Bela Vista neighbourhood in São Paulo, Brazil
Groups involved – Marvavilixo (main company) helped by precious plastics and reciclomanos
Background – Started in 2016 to reduce waste (mostly plastics) from going to landfill, their workshops are used both host environmental education session and to create fashion items, chairs, sculptures and most recently masks (in response to the COVID19 outbreak). Collected materials are processes within their workshop, with more machines and people producing a variety of products
Aims – To produce recycled projects, reduce beach waste and educate local members on environmental issues. They hold educational workshops on site to educate local children and young adults, specifically on environmental issues and preventions. Promote other creatives and recyclers within the community.
Resources recycled – Plastics, trunk canvas, air chambers, seat belts, scrap metal – bags, masks, coasters, artwork, masks (decorative), seats, sculptures Social impacts – Provides fashion items and sculptures which tie into the local cultures securing its longevity.
Economic impacts – Produces unique projects to boost the local economy
Environmental impacts – Reduces waste across the district, specifically on beaches and rubbish sites, reduces likelihood of threat to wildlife as a result
