The two new Eco-Flats are bringing "sustainable living into the mainstream and have achieved commercial success."
It is the first One Planet Community to be completed in the UK. It provides 54 affordable homes with almost a third of them allocated as social housing.
This is an example of Environmental Citizenship because it follows ten One Planet Living Principles, these include Health & happiness, equity & local economy, culture & community, land use & wildlife, sustainable water/materials/transport, local & sustainable food, zero waste and zero carbon.
This links very heavily to the sustainable development goals which contribute to a greener and more sustainable future.
The flats include roof top gardens, the greenest concrete frame in the UK and the windows are triple glazed to retain heat and reduce energy consumption.
Overall this has potential to be the solution to make the whole nation more sustainably.
