Established in December 2013, Hisbe is an independent supermarket that promotes environmental sustainability and fairtrade, by specializing in the sale of local, organic produce. Hisbe prioritise making food fairer for everyone involved in chain of production and consumption. Hisbe believe in making good food cheaper for the consumer without comprising the high standards of fair trade and money paid to those involved in production. Throughout the Hisbe store their message is clearly displayed though various discourse and imagery. The clear display of what Hisbe stand for means that the local shoppers can be more involved and understanding of the things that Hisbe specialise in.
This is citizenship for the environment because it promotes the use of sustainable sourced foods. They also support fair trade and is organic. This means that it does not harm the environment because it does not use pesticide and any other harmful products.
