The Marine Conservation Society (MCS) is a non-profit society who work to secure a fortune for our living seas, by save our threatened marine wildlife before species numbers distinctly decrease.
The trust describes that almost nowhere in UK seas is marine wildlife safe from harm. Therefore a major part of their campaign is to establish vital marine protected areas, where wildlife can recover and flourish.
The trust lives on donations as well as time given by members. One of their biggest 'earners', is the Brighton Marathon, where the trust offers people to run for the charity whilst collecting sponsorship. Participators are provided with a MCS running vest, as well as fund rising advice.
The MSE offers other ways to help protect the coast. Seasearch for divers is a scheme used for teaching qualified divers how to map different sea bed locations. The scheme also teaches the mapping of all marine organisms, both identification of the species as well as where they were located. This allows us to have better predictions on species numbers.
