Earthy women and kids is a charity that hopes to support women and children by providing them with new skills. They teach traditional crafts such as organic growing and horticulture with the aim of increasing peoples skills and confidence. Their workshops are low cost and affordable, making them accessible to single mothers, unemployed and those with mental health issues. They aim to help their participants with increasing their confidence, team building skills and building a stronger community.
They are important as they prioritise those on low income or with mental health issues. They support anyone with food, first aid and training in useful skills such as shelter making, pottery and weaving. They also have a herb garden and teach woodland foraging skills.
How does this contribute to environmental citizenship?
Earthy women and kids are involved in environmental citizenship as they support locals while simultaneously supporting the environment. They teach nature based skills which will in turn help to protect the environment. They try to move children away from computer games and out into nature to teach them skills that will last a lifetime.
