Waste bins are positioned all over the North Laine area. Due to them always being in sight, it encourages pedestrians to be responsible for their waste and use them to dispose of their litter instead of dropping it on the floor. They have a 1100 lire capacity and are locked down to prevent movement. The bins are often positioned on the the pavement, however if they are in the street they are sideways, minimising the space required therefore reducing the impact on parking space.
This is citizenship for the environment because although they are not recycling bins, not everything can be recycled. There for due to the North Laines largest outlet being food it is important to cater for all waste as it is better than being on the street.
