SESAME’s collaborations with the English Institute of Sport spread across two of our research labs.
Dr Neil Maxwell is supervising a joint University of Brighton and English Institute of Sport funded PhD student (Gareth Turner, GB Rowing) with Jamie Pringle (now British Athletics) and Dr Alan Richardson (University of Brighton). Gareth's study is entitled 'hypoxic exposure to optimise altitude training adaptations in elite endurance athletes’. Several active projects exist within this collaboration.
Dr Nick Smeeton is working in collaboration with Dr Emma Ross of the English Institute of Sport. This collaboration is examining the role of the prefrontal cortex in the control of dual-task gait. The project aims to investigate the role of the pre-frontal cortex in the control of healthy adults’ dual-task gait using transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS).
