What is it?
Infinity Foods is a worker co-operative dedicated to the provision of an extensive range of 100% vegetarian foods. They also sell organic and natural cosmetics and household goods. Their "core principles is sourcing locally grown, organic, non-GM, fair-trade foods".
What does it do?
Infinity Foods are committed to making sure locally sourced products is their number one priority over products that have travelled over long distances. Not only does it benefit the environment greatly by the product being grown, harvested and traded all in one area, it also supports the local economy and community ensuring the food everyone eats is both seasonal and healthy. Due to Sussex being so diverse with the quality of products in such close proximity, sourcing locally produced food ensures the preservation of local distinctiveness and varieties and reinforces a sense of belonging to the society.
How does it relate to Environmental Citizenship?
Infinty Foods relates to environmental citizenship as it shows the responsibility locals have to eat foods sourced locally and avoid buying goods which have travelled large distances. Its focus on natural and organic products demonstrates how they actively aim to raise awareness of the environmental benefits of organic produce.
