Description: The Big Swap was a skills swap event, hosted by Transition town Eastbourne. The event was designed to raise awareness of local environmental issues, and to promote green living and recycling at a personal and local level. Set up in a local community center and adjacent public park, stalls were set out to encourage people to cycle, produce their own food, reuse old clothing, upcycle and rediscover traditional crafts. No money was exchanged at the event, apart from the pay as you feel cafe. members of the public were instead encouraged to bring items with them to swap and reuse. This event was a success, and I am hopeful that there will be further events of this type in eastbourne.
