Description: Landfill Harmonic is an orchestra in Paraguay. It exists in Cateura, a city built on a landfill site. There is extreme pollution and poverty and it is here that landfill worker and musician Favio Chávez started to make instruments purely from the waste he collected. He formed an orchestra made up of local kids who now play all over the world. This use of waste material to create music and community is a ingenious example of resourcefulness and ingenuity in the face of hardship.
