Parklands Case Study 1

Carla works nights in the care sector. She has been with Scottish & Southern Electricity for 20 years, and has an Economy 7 meter despite not having night storage heaters any more. She uses no electricity at night. We arranged for SSE to remove the Economy 7 meter for free. She will then switch to Scottish Power. Her total saving a year will be £465.

Parklands Case Study 2

Jane is a single mum on benefits. EDF Energy had put Jane on a high business tari! called Deemed Gas despite her home never having been a business premises. She had arranged to switch supply from EDF to OVO Energy in 2014. OVO switched her electricity over but were unable to switch her gas, saying they could not verify her meter number. Jane went to the Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) who were unable to sort it out. Meanwhile Jane ran up a debt of £700 with EDF. With the support from another CAB, we helped Jane to apply for the EDF hardship fund to look at cancelling her debt entirely. We spoke with OVO, identified her meter and they agreed to switch her gas account once the EDF debt had been sorted. Jane’s overall savings will be around £200 a year
