Oasis Project Evaluation - 2005

Cupp contributed to the evaluation of Brighton Oasis Project's Relationship Support Programme. The programme includes group sessions on relapse prevention, the links between offending behaviours and the ability to create and sustain positive relationships and on positive parenting

There were two main aims for the evaluation:

• To assess the impact and effectiveness of programme’s management and operation

• To assess the programme’s performance, achievement and quality of provision, as well as accessibility by the target client group.

The evaluation was carried out by the Health & Social Policy Research Centre at the University of Brighton (now Social Science Policy and Research Centre - SSPARC)

SSPARC - Social Science Policy and Research Centre (former HSPRC)

The SSPARC research includes health and social policy but now also encompasses criminology, sociology, psychology, psychosocial studies, public policy and politics. The centre runs professional courses in social work, counselling and psychotherapy, and applied interests in other areas of social practice such as work with substance misusers and community development.

Brighton Oasis Project

Brighton Oasis Project aims to improve the quality of life of women and children in Brighton and Hove and surrounding areas, who are affected by substance misuse. Its clients are women with a current or former substance misuse issue. It provides a crèche and is a women only service. It works with female sex workers, women drug users and their children, and 8-16 year old children affected by familial drug use.
