Harry Trimble - 40 miles grater

The purpose of this cheese grater is to engage people consider the global distances everyday objects travel before we even buy them or simply the existence of product miles.

By creating a cheese grater from oak and clay from within a 20 miles radius of Brighton and contrasting it against an imported grater produced in the Far East, I hope to emphasise the intangible problem product miles pose to design.h

It made body and grating mechanism are made from English oak given by Nick Lear, an ameteur woodland manager in the Barcombe. The handle is made with clay taken from the river side in Lewes.
