Labour Office for Hove and Portslade

The current MP for Hove and Portslade is Peter Kyle. After an interview, it can be seen that his attitude towards environmental citizenship is very positive and he is taking action to help in all five of the categories. In terms of energy, he feels that this area needs vast improvement due to the out-dated Regency housing design. He feels strongly about heat exchangers and emphasises the importance of the offshore wind farm currently in progress. He also felt that green space was important for community spirit. In terms of food, he is pushing for parking permits for small, local traders so they can afford to park in the day for deliveries. In addition, he advocates the use of communal bins to prevent waste spillage by animals mainly. Finally, in terms of transport, he is supporting the replacement of the current hybrid engines in the Brighton and Hove bus network, to ultra-efficient engines. A system like the Boris bikes system in London is also being considered.

This relates to environmental citizenship, more specifically local advocacy, because it shows an interest by local figures in power at the environment and that they are genuinely concerned with issues and actively trying to resolve them.
