The Steyning Downland Scheme is 160 acres of chalk downland adjacent to Steyning and has been designated for the benefit of wildlife and the local community. It is an area comprising of open grassland, a watercourse, ponds and mixed woodland which is known locally as the Horseshoe, and the Rifle Range.
