CRITERIA Catchment area: Merseyside.

Age: 6 – 16.

REFERRAL Referrals taken from anyone, with assessment as appropriate. There is currently a 6-week waiting list.

ASSESSMENT Initial assessment of abuse, risk and family dynamics, using Safe Lives DASH checklist.

THE SERVICE The programme director has many years of experience as a social worker within Children’s Services and within safeguarding. The programme has been developed from a combination of personal and professional experience, observing the lack of access to help for families experiencing child to parent violence and abuse. Engagement is with both parents and young people, in a group or one to one setting. Work can take place in homes, the community or school as appropriate. The Halo programme follows a curriculum that has been specially developed with elements of NVR, Duluth wheels and a solution focused approach. The work takes place over 6 weeks, with a follow up approximately 6 weeks later.
