CRITERIA Catchment: Leicestershire and Rutland AGE: 10 – 18 years All referral criteria available on the website.

REFERRAL Referrals accepted from all professionals, and self-referrals. Forms are available for professionals. Self-referrals are generally taken by phone. There is currently a waiting time of around 6 months.

ASSESSMENT Assessments required from referring professionals. Referrals are assessed on a case-by-case basis for suitability. Risk and suitability assessments are undertaken with both the parent (2 hours) and young person (1 hour). The assessment form has been developed by the service, based around some DASH questions.

THE SERVICE The programme works with both the parent and young person, in groups and one-to-one situations. Meetings take place in home and school. The Respect RYPP programme is used with young people, and parents are offered Non-Violent Resistance (NVR) training. A manual is being written. Work takes place for around 15 weeks, but often longer because of a family’s individual needs or vulnerabilities. The Jenkins Centre is a Respect Accredited organisation.
Funding is from the National Lottery until 2013.

TRAINING Training can be offered to other professionals in this approach.
