This project involved community based respiratory support groups in the development and evaluation of a system for alerting at-risk groups to high levels of air pollution via mobile phones as well as educating them about the potential effects of air pollution on their health.
The texting alert system was developed through a Sussex Air Quality Steering Group (SAQSG) funded pilot project and undertaken by Kings College London to warn asthma sufferers of high air pollution levels.
The additional funding from Cupp allowed a series of focus-groups to take place that identified people's particular needs and concerns and asked them to participate in the development of the system to meet these needs.
