This partnership has brought together colleagues from School of Sport & Service Management with the Eastbourne Boxing Club to work on shared interests in social inclusion and combat sports. Project activities have included knowledge exchange on community engagement, sports psychology and best practice in this area. EBC have made contributions to the Love Fighting Hate Violence programme, jointly developing a coaching manual as well as making contributions to teaching. Students have been involved through curriculum based activities with new opportunities being developed for further student community engagement. New activities are being piloted at the club, such as setting up LGBTQI boxing workshops, and these in turn have contributed to Matthews research and policy at the national governing bodies level.
