Context: Bhee is an environmental education project brought to schools throughout Brighton and Hove, developed by Resource Futures in partnership with Sussex Wildlife Trust. The non-for-profit Resource Futures specialises in minimising the impact of consumerism, towards ever more efficient resource use, while Sussex Wildlife Trust contributes its expertise in biodiversity. The project aims to involve preschool and elementary school children in workshops that will both allow for a combination of indoor and outdoor activities and teach the children environmental responsibility.
Impacts and Initiatives: The project teaches a series of workshops, related to the broad themes of biodiversity and waste, as well as gives schools eco-awards (three levels). The workshops also include multidisciplinary approaches that cover alternative transport (biking) and core subjects (e.g. Mathermatics).
Suggestions/Accessibility of information: The information about the project is all clearly accessible and well explained in terms of workshop content. Clearly participation is limited to schoolchildren, this excellent initiative is not suitable for volunteering. It may be a good idea to add information regarding any steps the project takes to include special needs children.
