As part of the Brighton and Hove councils bid to promote sustainable transport they have installed several electric vehicle charging points in the city. The one pointed out on the map is located Opposite the Sealife Centre, Madeira Drive, Brighton, BN2 1TB. Electric vehicles are more sustainable than cars that run on conventional fuel and the council fully support their use. The move is aimed at encouraging more people to drive electric cars and is part of Brighton and Hove's ongoing commitment to achieving a clean and energy efficient transport system. Brighton-based charging company Elektromotive has already completed installation of the first four Brighton & Hove pilot sites. Two pods located at the Madeira Drive bays and six located in other wards. The first 10 stations will be paid for by the £130,000 from clean transport initiative Civitas, which is part-funded by the EU.
