Recycling scheme created in 2011 introduced by the council was to have community recycling bins for residents to put their rubbish whenever they liked. Various bins are located all over this ward and various other wards. The bins are away from peoples windows, and don't take up parking spaces on roads.
Brighton and Hove council have installed 63 streets in Goldsmid. The residents have decided where would b best for these communal bins following consultations and an exhibition last year.
This is citizenship for the environment because firstly its recycling which is very good for the environment and sustainability. Also it will reduce the amount if litter on the streets as these bins are collected more regularly and scattered around the area much less. Its also much quicker to collects, so is time efficient because it saves the refuse collectors having to go to individual houses.
