Go Further, Sussex Downs College

Go Further is a collaborative programme developed between Sussex Downs College and Sussex Coast College Hastings. The project provides opportunities for over 1100 students from low participation wards to progress into higher education. Working collaboratively across the Colleges’ centres in East Sussex, the project will raise aspiration, confidence and understanding to support students in their transition into higher level study. The project will involve development and introduction of a Digital Passport to Higher Education, develop a peer mentoring and coaching programme and offer a range of events for students to experience what it’s like to be in higher education.

SLN:COP has a Parent and Carer Ambassador based at the East Sussex College group:

SLN:COP Parent and Carer Ambassador Programme

The programme offers parents and carers in target schools who have children at university the opportunity to become higher education ambassadors. They will attend events and activities in school and also in community settings to promote university to other parents and carers and address any concerns they may have around student finance and university life. The aims and objectives of the project are to support and encourage parental engagement in schools and colleges and enable impartial peer-to-peer IAG about higher education options and supporting students in higher education.
