Located in the Ramsgate Tunnels the Defense of the nation is a Community Interest Group supported by the Armed Forces Covenant Fund & founded in 2015. We are men & women who come from diverse backgrounds, possessing local knowledge & strong links with the Thanet area. One common denominator that draws us together is an unquenchable passion for history & an innate ability to recognise the huge importance of helping to preserve our amazing heritage for both existing & future generations. As a result of our shared vision, Defence of The Nation Education Centre is born. We want to take the opportunity to highlight the historical & strategic importance of the East Kent area; primarily that of Thanet and give recognition to not only the armed forces, but to the auxiliary services & civilians of Thanet during the Second World War,(1939-1945). We feel it is imperative to acknowledge the invaluable contributions that these people collectively gave & thought what better tribute than to construct a purpose-built museum & dedicated education centre. And is only 2.3 miles away from Newington.
