National award finalists

Using technology to share creative ideas for waste with South Africa

The Green Gown Awards have selected Community21 and The University of Brighton as a finalist in this important award within the 'community' section.

We submitted Community21 on the basis of the continued work we do to support engaging communities in their sustainable development. We have undertaken numerous projects with communities that look to address issues that communities define as important to them and that seek to provide solutions to 21st century issues.

From building networks and communities in South Africa and Asia to turn waste into value for under-developed communities, to building web systems for sharing ecological activism our students and staff use Community21 to make a difference. It is terrific that this has been acknowledged!

We are now crossing our 'green' fingers and toes in hope that we actually win!

Here's A short film that accompanies our entry.
