Meditation in Grand Parade Campus

A student called Prasad came to our Students' Union office in Grand Parade asking for help to set up a meditation session on campus, since it is one of his passions and he wanted to share it with other students.

I explained that as a Community Organiser I would support him, but that this was his event and he would be the organiser. At first he was a bit scared, as he thought it was a big task! I told him not to worry and that I'd be there for him all the way.

The first thing we did was to book a room, agree a date and a time. Prasad designed his own posters and distributed them around campus. We also asked the accommodation team in Phoenix Halls to invite all the students. We had 25 places available and students needed to e-mail Prasad to confirm their place.

The meditation session was fully booked! Over 20 students attended.

We booked the room on the 5th floor in Dorset Place, which has an amazing view of Brighton and is full of light. We also offered healthy refreshments to make the experience better.

We held an hour session and the students really enjoyed it, asking Prasad to do it again soon.

And again, it all started with one conversation. Community Organising power on the go!
