Suffolk Family Carers is a voluntary organisation, affiliated to the Carers Trust, which has been offering this programme since early 2016.

CRITERIA Catchment area: Suffolk-wide. Age range: This is a programme for adult parent carers, where the child is aged 8 – 18 years. The child should have a condition such as ASD, ADHD, learning disability, though a formal diagnosis is not a requirement.

REFERRAL Referral by phone or email, from carers or professionals.

ASSESSMENT Assessment via phone discussion. No formal assessment from other agencies required.

THE SERVICE This is a 9 session group work programme for parent-carers which takes place in a community venue. It follows the Who’s in Charge? programme developed by Eddie Gallagher in Australia, supporting mothers to understand CPV, and to work towards more healthy family relationships and the cessation of violence. It uses a mixture of approaches including narrative and solution focused therapies and CBT. There is a waiting list, and the delivery of the programme is dependent on securing funding.

EVALUATION An evaluation takes place for each programme, and copies are available on request.
