Respect (Swindon)

CRITERIA Catchment area: Swindon Age: 10 – 17 year olds.

No other positive criteria for referral, but a number of factors which make it difficult for a family to engage in support might preclude a family’s involvement in the programme: high levels of ongoing domestic violence where there is an adult perpetrator, severe substance abuse or difficult and ongoing mental health issues. Consent is required from both the adult and young person.

REFERRAL / ASSESSMENT Referrals are accepted from any source, parents or professionals.

Referrals from professionals to be sent to swindonmash@swindon.gov.uk using RF1 form and clearly labelled as an early help referral.

Parents can ring for an Early Help Hub consultation on 01793 466903 choosing option 1.

It is preferred that and Early `Help Assessment has been completed for all referrals. There is a waiting list depending on capacity.

Referrals are triaged by Parenting Hub coordinators to assess suitability. A graduated response or other programme may be recommended. Respect programme risk assessments are also used.

THE SERVICE Utilising the RYPP model and manual, a combination of approaches is used, working with families over a period of 3 - 4 months. Work is with both parents and children in group and / or one to one sessions. Meetings take place wherever most suitable: eg. home, school, community venue or YOT.

EVALUATION An evaluation of the programme as a whole has been done by Respect. Evaluations are available for funders.
