Refugees and the local context: the art of engagement - Seed Fund 2016

Partners: Drs Louise Purbrick (Humanities) and Mark Doidge (SaSM) with the Hummingbird Project. Main area of Impact: Societal, Economic, Political

The partnership between The Hummingbird Project and academics from Humanities and Sports Science aimed to directly address the social and political discourse on refugees, volunteering and integration through creative methods and arts workshops. Together they piloted and delivered a series of creative workshops with academics, students and communities focused on how to represent and articulate the experiences of refugees, build skills together and methods as a tool for participation. The workshops have sparked creative initiatives including a film documenting the activities, a collaborative crochet project and exhibitions in the Fringe and Refugee Week.
