Mandatory food recycling policy

Policy:

-Commercial businesses are required to recycle their organic waste depending on the amount of waste they generate per week. The law will start off addressing businesses that generate 8 or more cubic yards of organic waste per week and slowly address the smaller producing businesses.

-Requires local jurisdiction across the state to implement local organic waste recycling programmes to divert organic waste generated by businesses. This also includes multi-family dwellings that consist of more than 5 units.

-The law will be gradually implememnted from 2016 with full implementation by 2019.
