World's oldest Elm Trees

These English Elm trees (Ulmus minor var. vulgaris) located in the Coronation Garden are the oldest Elms in the world (boasting 400 years of age). A recent plague of Elm diease has devestated Elm populations across Europe but carefull managment, and stringent control measures carried out by Brighton and Hove City dating back to the 1970s. They contribute to a conservation focal point, inspiring interest in nature and envrionmental citezenship.
