National Community Wood Recycling Project

Aim- to save resources by rescuing and re-using waste timber that would otherwise be landfilled. Background-The project was founded in 2003 to set up a nationwide network of wood recycling social enterprises. Create sustainable jobs for local people, especially those that would find it difficult to find employment. Financially self supported since 2011, before that the NCWRP were funded by grants and by earned income. Benefits- They are an example of conservation citizenship because they conserve wood and ensure that it does not go to landfill, whilst working with the community and providing jobs to local people.
