Community 21 University of Brighton

To build an engaging body of evidence through innovative content design and development that champions SLN:COP projects and facilitates data gathering and a legacy of best practice across the Sussex network. Will work with community partners, project stakeholders, partners, students and beneficiaries (and other identified by SLN:COP) to build a comprehensive body of engaging content, data and evidence.

STEM Projects STEM Sussex, University of Brighton

To increase awareness of courses and careers in STEAM related subjects by providing Sussex-wide Big Bang festivals for all schools and colleges with added support for NCOP students attending these events. As well as the three Big Bang festivals, STEM Sussex will be creating an engineering placement programme for 20 NCOP students and arranging three STEM tasters at partner universities.

Maths in FE University of Brighton, School of Education

GCSE Mathematics Resit Support Work to improve results achieved in GCSE to support students to progress to Level 4 education. A range of objectives specifically designed around the needs of colleges; tracking and support for learners’ unique needs; targeted plans to develop skills; CPD and support for maths tutors and departments; support and development of implementation strategies.

BAME Mentoring University of Brighton

BAME mentoring programme for schools across Sussex. University of Brighton BAME students mentoring BAME school students with the following aims: increased confidence, improvement in communication skills, increased engagement in studies and school life, positive change to aspirations relating to further study.

Care Leavers Reaching University (Innovations Fund Project)

University of Brighton, The Bridge and Brighton and Hove Leaving Care Team.

The project aims to identify strategies that can be implemented by Brighton and Hove City Council (BHCC) and its partners to increase the number of Brighton and Hove care leavers attending and remaining at university for the duration of their course. The project will therefore inform practice with Children in Care (years 9-12) and Care Leavers (years 12-13) up to the age of 19.
