What did you do on the weekend?? We played giant snakes and ladders and made pizza at the top of Cherwell Road in #Heathfield! This is becoming more of a regular thing for us as the pizza parties continue to grow.
Congratulations to winners of our #pizzaparty Faye and Alison, you and your neighbours were fantastic hosts, we had the best time despite the weather!! We noticed that there were lots of isolated residents when we door-knocked to ask neighbours to the party and some of them came along which was great. We decided next time it would be good to go back on the day or the party to pick people up!
The Community Oven owns converted horse box pizza ovens that tour Heathfield and the surrounding area as well as appearing at events and private occasions across Sussex. Damien came to Let’s Co-organise with the idea of helping people come together using food and he and Dot set up the CIC (Community Interest Company) in March 2017. We started simple, running a competition to run street parties for residents that wanted to get to know one another, they were a great success with over 160 attendees in total. We are continuing to connect residents via requests collected by an ‘Ask and Offer’ board and will be organising more events of this kind in the new year. www.communityoven.co.uk/about/
