SCOPE is a national charity that supports people with disabilities in the UK. Their Local People's Programme, launched for the first time in 2015, recruits volunteers and participants in different parts of Brighton and Hove to empower local people with disabilities and their carers through the co-creation of local projects.
On the 29th of October 2016 we trained their participants in Community Organising. This training included skills such as Active Listening and Hosting Techniques that could help the group to develop their local projects further by involving the community in a sustainable way.
Testimonies: "In addition, for the attendees to meet users from other disability groups has been very beneficial to foster solidarity between groups. In fact one really positive outcome is that the different groups are now exploring how they can provide peer support to each other"
