Pevensey History

Site of prehistoric settlement, with ruins of 3rd century Roman castle and later Norman castle. Landing place of William the Conqueror in 1066 and later additions. Numerous historic buildings including 13th century church of St Nicolas, 14th century courthouse and jail, various 15th century houses.
