Keep Hastings Moving - bus cuts campaign

Whilst out doorknocking on the west hill Jack was made aware of residents who were concerned about proposed cuts to local bus services. The residents were concerned as a lot of them relied heavily on the buses due to their location in the town and the topography which made it hard for less mobile and elderly people to get about by foot. The cuts had been proposed by the county council as a result of cuts to their overall budget. Local residents were particularly aggrieved as some 60% of cuts across the county were to take place in Hastings, a town with a high number if people living without cars and dependent on reliable public transport.

The campaign went on to invoilve doorknocking, town centre stalls, public meetings and private meetings with councillors and other local government figures. These are detailed elsewhere.
