Groups involved: The groups involved are Hoboken, The farm bridge, Jersey City make it green, abc, NBCUnviersal, Ashokan centre, Lush USA, Woodland Pond at New Paltz, Bead Alone Bakery, Barcade, Radio Kingston, Lagustas Luscious, The Scandinavian school of Jersey City, Village coffee and goods, Busy Bee Organics, The Archer, The little gym, More Good, Bucket & Bay, Diego’s Taqueria, Wild Earth, Wood stock Shindig, The Anchor, Beacon Natural Market, Loliware and Stone soup.

Background: Food waste is big problem especially in the western world, up to 40 million tons of food waste is produced by the USA alone. This has urged people to not waste food and be smart and strategic with their food waste.

Aims: This project aims to get their service to be a staple in waste management all over the USA.

Resources recycled: The that is wasted is food scrapes and biodegradable products, so it can turn into compost to be used for gardening and farming.

Social impacts: It helps the community feel sustainable and clean as everyone is being mindful of their waste. Also, school children are taught how to compost and why they should try not to waste food.

Economic impacts: It has provided new jobs in the area of New York and New Jersey such as compost collectors and more work and money for the farms that process the compost for the company.

Environmental impacts: The communities this is available in have seen a difference in their bin collections and having to throw things away less often but the USA still has an increasing food waste problem.
