Background Information:

Created in 1998, Brighton & Hove Wood Recycling collect waste timber for reuse and recycling, keeping it as far up the waste hierarchy as possible so that it can be reused or made into useful things rather than go to waste. It is a non-for profit social enterprise. It creates opportunities for people to volunteer and learn new skills.

Contribution to Environmental Citizenship:

The Woodstore promotes environmental citizenship as it encourages recycling and for people to get involved in reducing the amount of things to go to landfill. It takes a weak anthropocentric approach to waste, meaning that sustainability is paramount for humans to live alongside nature.
