Electric Car Recharging Points

In Regency Square car park, there are 7 electric car recharging points. Each electric vehicle point uses a standard 13 amp supply and a three pin UK domestic socket. These are free of charge for any vehicle to use while parking. As part of the council's pledge to be more sustainable, they installed several charging points throughout the city (I am focusing on the regency street car park as it is in our area of study). Electric vehicles don't burn fossil fuels and hybrid vehicles emit less than conventional fuel cars. In 2011, Brighton and Hove were rewarded £2.2 million for small-scale transport projects by the Civitas initiative. Each charge has a range of around 100 miles so charging points are being set up around the country to help motorists plan their journeys. Brighton is a very densely populated place with most places only offering on-street parking which can make charging at home difficult, so these new charging points allow charging elsewhere. This is an example of citizenship for the environment because Brighton and Hove council are taking responsible environmental action to reduce the emissions from transport in the city.
