Friends of Palmeria and Adelaide (FOPA)

FOPA is used by local residents, council and organisations and organised by volunteers.

The responsibilities of the advocacy are to protect the heritage sites of the architectural Grade 2 & 2* listed buildings and green spaces/lawns of the Central Hove. Their websites allows discussions, articles and involvement in issues with local area such as waste disposal and conservation. FOPA work with the council, police and local councillors and have monthly meetings to work alongside the volunteers for the benefit of the area. They also are proactive with social media (i.e. facebook) to engage and inform locals.

Their vision is "to help conserve the special character of this area whilst enhancing the quality of life of those who live here." (FOPA, 2016)

The discussions on websites and across social media pages allows local people to participate in conversation and provide ideas about how to run and manage the environment and key buildings of the area. Therefore FOPA is an excellent local advocacy to engross locals to partake in environmental citizenship.
