Brighton and Hove Council: Personalised Travel Planning

In order to promote sustainable transportation across the City of Brighton and Hove, its council implemented a scheme called Personalised Travel Planning (PTP). Funded by the Department of Transport, it incorporated the development of personalised information files for individuals, basing their travel plan information on their day-to-day travel patterns and lifestyles. PTP gives communities the opportunity to improve their overall quality of life and health as well to contributing to the sustainability of the planet. The project is based in the following wards: North Portslade, South Portslade, Hangleton and Knoll, Stanford, Goldsmid, Central Hove, Westbourne and Wish. However the project did not start in Goldsmid until 2008. The schemes overall citizenship aims towards reducing the city's congestion and increasing its contribution towards a greener planet (carbon footprint), combating against the threat and effects of global warming. All the information above has been gathered from a report review of the success of the project, written to the Environment Committee in 2007: http://present.brighton-hove.gov.uk/Data/Environment%20Committee/20070125/Agenda/$Item%20120%20PTP%20programme.doc.pdf
